Mia had been kidnapped from her family in Japan and had been missing for a year before being discovered in a closet by a police officer. That police officer, Officer Moon, took her in and raised her as his own daughter. Her past is unknown to her, except for brief scenes of the Moon Kingdom. She met her cat Andromeda on the way to school. That day changed her life.
While living in the United States, she protected her home as Sailor Crescent Moon. During her last battle, she watched her father die trying to protect her. Her father's murderer, Tristan, had an infatuation with Crescent Moon and had been stalking her. Her anger and grief boiled over, causing her to defeat Tristan in a blind fury.
After her father's death, Mia traveled to Japan to find the other Sailor Soldiers and also in hopes of finding her real family. There she met Usagi and her friends. With Usagi by her side, Mia searches for her family and finds love with Seiya Kou, lead singer of the Three Lights.
As the past begins to reveal itself to Mia, an old enemy makes his appearance, causing Sailor Crescent Moon to battle him once more. Determined not to lose her friends to Tristan, Mia discovers a power she had never experienced. The power of hope, friendship, and true love.
